When their new CEO, Shawn Gundrum came on board, he approached Double Happiness Creations and Gumdrop Creative to collaborate in rebranding their company. This would involve designing a new logo and giving their company a new name. They wanted a look that was more professional and modern. This would involve a renaming exercise followed by a comprehensive redesign of the identity system.

DH and GC carefully and consciously worked through the name research process to arrive at a name that was both meaningful and reflective of CPS’s changing business. The new name meeting the goal of communicating the intent behind the CPS method and how the company would continue to drive forward.

In October 2018, CPS Professional Services became CATHEXIS.

Mr. Gundrum said in his press release, "The cornerstone of our company continues to be helping to solve our clients’ most complex and challenging issue. The name CATHEXIS highlights our commitment to these clients.  ‘Cathexis’ is defined as the commitment of mental and emotional energy toward people, activities and ideas. For us, it means the commitment of our personal and professional energy toward our clients’ people, missions and visions."

Take a look below to see how the new logo, its design and colors were applied to stationery, website, social media, and office signage.

Maternity Photoshoot

In a few months, my husband and I will be welcoming a new baby to our family. I regretted not taking photos the first time I was pregnant, so I made sure that we had some taken this time.

I called upon my friend Stacey of Simply Sweet Snapshots. We have been using our talents as barter to help each other grow our businesses. She took all the gorgeous photos on our website and have documented my first son's two birthday parties and I've been designing her company's logo and promotional materials.

Take a peek at the photos from our maternity shoot and feel free to reach out to her for your own special life milestones that you want to capture!

A Triple Red Egg and Ginger Event!

Our client approached us to design a "Red Egg and Ginger" invitation for herself and her two sisters! Yes, all three sisters gave birth within the last 6 months! The dragons represented the 3 baby dragons born into the family and the reverse of the invite was translated into Chinese. We also incorporated the Chinese names and their meanings for each child.

The invite was digitally printed on 110# coverstock

Verna's 70th Birthday

It's always great to have repeat clients...we announced the arrival of all of Jennifer's children and now we designed her mom's 70th birthday invitation! Jennifer and her sisters wanted to utilize our "long life" laser pocket envelopes and chose a simple design accented by plumeria.

The invitation was offset printed.

Double Happiness Cake

My friend, Dorina, owner of Oro Bakery and Bar in New York City sent me this photo of her latest creation this morning. The "double happiness" theme "wowed" me so much that I had to share it.

'The bride wanted something simple and elegant, but also something that would stand out in the beautiful backdrop of party's venue, The Loeb Boathouse, as well as pay tribute to the famillies' Chinese traditions.

Beautiful inside and out, the cake is vanilla paired with a fresh raspberry buttercream to match tastes and decor: The couple doesn't like chocolate, the groom likes fruit flavors.  The flowers were pink and cream. Unlike some other multi-tiered cakes, all the layers are true delicious cake, and took some engineering to make sure it wasn't
going to go "Pisa."'

And having personally tasted Oro's cakes, I can say that they not only look good, they really taste good too!! Contact them for your next event!

Three New Birth Announcement Designs

Over a snowy January weekend I was finally able to meet Baby Luca for his birth announcement photoshoot. We were lucky enough to have the talent of children's photographer (and my good friend of 15 years), Linda Farwell, come and document the event.  What came out of the day were some beautiful photos that really captured Luca, his big brother Enzo and his mom and dad. I also felt "recharged" and created 3 new designs using these photos! Which one will mommy and daddy choose? I'll find out soon! In the meantime, which one is your favorite? =)

Wedding Program for JoAhn & Jeffrey

Our multi-panel wedding program designed for JoAhn and Jeffrey, as featured on Brides.com:

"Fastened with a screw post, this multiple panel style offers tons of space not onlyfor a detailed "who's who" of the wedding party, but also for words to key songs, prayers, and readings; you can also explain religious or cultural traditions to guests who are unfamiliar with them."

Lin & Steve Save the Date

An Asian-rustic save the date!
At my first meeting with Lin, I realized that we both share a love for "arts and crafts". She wanted the save the dates for her wedding to have an "Asian-Rustic" feel that used light blues and browns. We ended up creating vintage seed packets (the "rustic") with labels that had her save the date information printed on the front. The back had wording about how & when to plant the "Chinese Forget Me Not" seeds. Her envelopes were lined with a handmade floral paper that Lin picked out. We hand-punched the back flap of her envelopes with the "double happiness" (the "Asian") character. Real, pressed Forget Me Not flowers were hand glued onto the labels of the packets. Lin really brought Double Happiness back to our roots when we used to do nothing but "handmade" designs. It was a labor of love, but so refreshing and therapeutic at the same time! With Lin's creative input, your guess is as good as mine about how her wedding invitations are going to turn out! Check back in a few months!

Will they make it?

I've seen many wedding websites over the years and have read many "about the couple" bios as well. But none really made me laugh and smile until I read Li Na and Michael's on their website. Here it is for you to enjoy with their permission:

Michael  is a corporate attorney.
Li Na is a corporate auditor.
Michael is from the small town of Clark, New Jersey, while Li Na was born and raised in a city with a
population of 12 million people - Beijing, a.k.a. Peking, China.
Michael has an older brother while Li Na is a spoiled only child.
Michael is an avid reader and Li Na is a world traveler.
Michael is a thinker.  Li Na is a talker.
Michael encourages Li Na to speak perfect English, but Li Na reminds Michael that he, himself, is
unable to speak a single word in Mandarin.
Michael is a Rutgers Scarlet Knights fan, while Li Na cheers on the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Michael barely tolerated his three years at Georgetown Law School. Li Na enjoyed her two years of
business school at the "Happy Valley", Pennsylvania.
Michael has conservative political views, and is trying to influence Li Na on the many reasons she
should prefer elephants and not donkeys here in America.
Michael likes Bob Dylan.  Li Na likes show music and opera.
Michael likes tea. Li Na likes root beer floats.
Michael likes science fiction. Li Na likes romantic novels and movies.
Do you think there is any hope for this marriage? :-P
